In Classroom One we love building and construction! Whether it is with blocks in the block centre, connecting straws at the table or blankets in the quiet corner, the kids are being encouraged to build in multiple different ways.

BLOCK CENTRE

In the block center the children are working on building collectively and taking turns with the trucks and tools. It is so exciting to see them not just playing alongside one another but working together towards a common goal.

THE BOOK "THE DOT"

This last week we read a story called “The Dot” that encourages children to believe in themselves and to use their unique creativity to do amazing things. To follow along with this book we did many dot related activities!

At the craft table we used different round lids to make a dot collage on canvas.

The children each had an opportunity to trace over their names with dots, working on their letter and name recognition as well as letter formation.

We gave the children five black dots and asked them to draw any picture incorporating those dots. The children drew balloons, flowers and even a train with 5 wheels!
