Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice!

The Children in Classroom 3 were exploring apples and what kinds of things they could do with them. So we decided to make some Apple sauce. The children each got some apples, a knife, and a cutting board.

They then worked on their cutting skills and Russell proudly said “Look, I am cutting the apples!” The Children cut up two large bags of apples and placed all the pieces into a pot.

After all of the apples were cut into small chunks and in the pot the children helped to put in the cinnamon and sugar. Emmanuella was so curious about what the bowls of spices were that she asked if she could smell the spice bowl.

Many children loved the smell of the apple sauce as it cooked and all proclaimed that it smelt yummy! We enjoyed having our delicious apple sauce along with our snack that afternoon.

I think more baking and cooking is in our future!
